Stress Management & Meditation for Busy WOC
This workshop is from the Together Thriving Summit for WOC by WOC that tool place in December 2020. Our minds can drive us crazy. It can create more worry and anxiety than the body could ever hope to balance. And this imbalance sets the stage for Dis-ease. Yoga Nidra is a sleep based yogic meditation that releases excess tension in the body, preventing stress-related dis-ease at the root. Not only does it create a powerful relaxation response, but it helps prevent the re-accumulation of excess tension. Yoga Nidra trains the body-mind to be disengaged from stress-producing thoughts which may cause the stress in the first place. During this workshop, we will cover the basics of stress, how it shows up in daily life and the behaviours that result from unmanaged stress. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn processes by which we recognize and develop self awareness. Using mindfulness techniques that connect the body and breath, attendees will experience the ancient yogic practice of Yoga Nidra.

But knowing who you are and being grounded in your identity is foundational to being able to care for yourself. Self awareness is one of the keys to understanding who you are, who you were meant to be and how you show up in others lives. I partnered with Only Human, and this is the promo video they produced for my virutal yoga class for Suicide Awareness Month in September 2020. Those who attempt and succeed at suicide often struggle with mental health. Yoga is one of the ways that can help those that suffer manage and regulate their emotions, which can be life saving.
